Membership Rules

Membership in the club is not vested, is a privilege and may be terminated, with just cause, by a two thirds vote of the Board of Directors.  If the Board of Directors declines renewed membership to any former member, the dues paid for the years declined will be returned to the former member.

The LJRC has 3 classes of members:  Regular, Life and Honorary.

Each regular membership is recognized as a family membership, which may consist of a husband, wife and children under the age of 18.  With this membership, only one member shall be entitled to a vote at meetings.  All children under 18 years of age must be with the member parent while on club property.  Children who are part of a family membership who become 18 years of age must then pay membership fees as individual members.  Life membership may be awarded to a member who has displayed exceptional dedication to the club over a period of time.  A member for consideration may be submitted by any member of the club to the Board of Directors.  The Board of Directors vote must be a two thirds vote for the awarded life membership.  Honorary membership will be awarded to non-members who have displayed exceptional dedication to the club.  The Board of Directors vote must be a two thirds vote for the awarded honorary membership.  Life memberships and honorary memberships will be announced and in effect at the annual meeting held each year.

Membership dues for annual membership shall be received by the club, commencing on February 1 and before April 30 of each applicable year.  Any member failing to pay the dues charged for membership, by April 30, shall be dropped from the membership rolls of the club.  Upon payment of dues, a new regular member shall receive a membership card with lock combo and a copy of the handbook/standard operating procedures, which includes a copy of the bylaws.

Any member may be suspended, by any member of the Board of Directors, for any violation of bylaws, club policy, and/or range rules, or other good cause, and the suspension shall remain in effect until review by the Board of Directors at its next monthly meeting.  “Good Cause” is defined as, but not limited to, any conduct or behavior by any member that is not in the best interest of the purpose or mission of the club, jeopardizes the safety and/or welfare of any member, or detrimentally affects, in any way, the good order and discipline of the activities of the club.  Good cause shall first be determined by a two thirds affirmative vote of the members of the Board of Directors.  Charges alleging good cause, for termination of a member, shall be made in writing to the Board of Directors, and may be made by any member.  The written statement must explain specific facts, supported by evidence available, that support the allegations.  Any member suspended or expelled by action of the Board of Directors may appeal to the general membership of the club.  The appeal must be in writing, explaining the reason for the appeal, the evidence, if any, to be submitted to the membership and lodged with the Secretary of the Board of Directors within ten days after being notified of the decision of the Board of Directors.  For purposes of the appeal, the President may call a special meeting of the club.  The appeal hearing must be brought before the general membership at either a special or regular meeting, with 45 days of the filing of the notice of appeal.  The general membership will have at least 15 days notice of the appeal hearing.  At the appeal hearing, the President will preside and the Secretary will read the original charges, present the  supporting affidavits, if any, together with any exhibits and other evidence.  The Secretary will also read to the general membership the minutes of the Board of Directors pertaining to the matter under appeal.  The member making the appeal will first be allowed to present a statement to the general membership.  Then the member or members having filed the original complaint will be allowed to respond.  Questions and answers may be asked at the discretion of the President, who will then close the hearing and ask for a vote of the general membership.  A two thirds vote by voting members present is required to reverse the action taken by the Board of Directors.
